NCLEX Study Tips for Your First Attempt
The NCLEX tests your clinical judgment, so the most useful preparation is practicing many scenario-based questions and learning from every rationale.
Practice questions every day
A little practice every day builds the habit of reading a scenario, identifying what matters most, and choosing the safest next step.
Learn from the rationale
- Read the rationale for every question, including those you answered correctly.
- Write down the concept you missed and review it again the next day.
- Look for patterns: do you miss prioritization questions, medication questions, or something else?
Prioritize like a nurse
When two options look correct, ask which one addresses the most urgent patient need first. Airway, breathing and circulation concerns usually come before comfort concerns.
Protect your energy
Sleep, short breaks and regular meals improve how much you remember. Plan rest days into your schedule.
