LSAT Tips: Logical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning
LSAT questions test reasoning, not memorized facts. That means practice and careful review are the best ways to improve.
Logical Reasoning
- Find the conclusion first, then the evidence that supports it.
- Ask yourself what assumption connects the evidence to the conclusion.
- Eliminate answers that are too extreme or off-topic.
Analytical Reasoning
- Draw a simple diagram for every set of conditions.
- Write each rule next to the diagram so you can check it quickly.
- Work out what must be true before looking at the answer choices.
Review like a coach
Do not only check which answer was right. Explain why each wrong choice is wrong. That is how your reasoning improves.
